Teach me Lord

How can I say I trust you I run from the trials?
How can I say I trust you when I have doubts in my heart?
How can I say I trust you when I always allow discouragement consume me?
Sometimes the path may take me into the rain and storm.
Sometimes the path may take me into the fire.
But I will still trust in you Lord. I trust your plans for me, which are good.
All I ask is you teach me how to sleep in the storm and walk through the fire.
Jer 29: 11

What we will do

When every tear seems to form an ocean, with every hurt like a valley, when the circumstances become unbearable and we seem to have run out of good days and happy times, we wont lose faith. We still wont give up. We will rather do what is right and wait on you Lord.

Through the sickness and pain, through the trials and affliction, we wont lose faith. We will rather do what is right and wait on you Lord. Yes you’re still on the throne and still in control. 2 Corinth 4: 8-12

Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?” [Jer. 32:27]

When we find ourselves in the place where the situation or circumstance is bigger and more powerful than any “thing” or any “one” we know in this earthly realm, that is when we need to remind ourselves of what the Lord spoke to us thru the prophet Jeremiah.

When we are going through a trial or a dark days and bad times, it is always very hard to imagine how things will get better. God wants us to depend on Him in every trial we face.

When we can’t, God can. When we are nothing God is something. When we are nobody God is somebody. Because God loves us as, He is willing and able to turn our situation around if we will depend on Him, trust in Him, and wait on Him.

We find an interesting story in the book of Genesis, when Pharaoh had a disturbing dream foreshadowing the seven years of famine that would come upon Egypt, and haven been told about the Hebrew slave, he was at once brought before Pharaoh. He said; “I had a dream, and no one can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.” (Gen. 41:15) Joseph was the king’s last hope. I imagine the pressure on Joseph to interpret the king’s dream was intense.

Instead of making something up to humour the king, like other wise men probably did in hopes to save their neck, Joseph openly admits to Pharaoh “I cannot do it”. This clearly was not the answer Pharaoh wanted to hear. However, Joseph goes on to say “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” (Gen. 41:16) “But God” — I bet those two words were music to Pharaoh’s ears. Joseph couldn’t give Pharaoh the answers he sought, but God would. Not only did God give Pharaoh the interpretation to his dream, He used Joseph mightily to prepare for the famine and exercise his gift of administration. There is nothing you may be facing today that God cannot handle. No matter the level of pain and disgrace, no matter the affliction and disease, our God and father can deal with it. I need you to know there is absolutely nothing you go through that you and God cannot together handle. In God needs are met. In God solutions are given. In God answers are found and when you can’t, God can. Cut off from me, you can do nothing (John 15:5), but with God all things are possible (Matt. 19:26).

You may be facing a seemingly impossible situation?

Maybe what you are asking God for, seems unlikely to come to pass?

Is your faith being tested?

Perhaps, you feel completely trapped, hedged in and overwhelmed, with no solution in sight. Maybe you’re confronted with a challenge where there is no resolution. Or, your heart is heavy with doubt as you can’t figure out what to do next, for there appears to be nothing you can do about what you now face and right now you’re asking yourself “How can things change for the better?” Do I have to go through this?

However, impossibilities are the platforms upon which God does His best work. After you’ve done all you can stand still and see God do what you can’t. Have faith. With man it may be impossible. But with God, all things are possible. With God everything is possible.

George Muller once said, “Faith does not operate in the realm of the possible. There is no glory for God in that which is humanly possible. Faith begins where man’s power ends.”

When God led the Israelites by way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Then, he guided the people around in a large circle. As the people camped at the edge of the Red Sea, they noticed that the mountains were on one side, and the sea was on the other side of them and from a distance saw Pharaoh’s army charging toward them. For them it appeared as though they were trapped with no apparent way out. Terrified, the people cried out to Moses in despair. There seemed to be no hope for them at all. It was all over. The die is cast. It was time to give up and give in. But God had another plan. God always has another plan.

But, Moses trusted God during this impossible time. Do you know Him enough to trusting Him in times of difficulty? Instead of getting upset, and giving up or giving in to desperation, He looked up to God and God looked up to Him. Moses said:

“Do not be afraid. Stand firm. And you will see the deliverance of the Lord. The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent.” (Exodus 14:13-14)

I don’t know who is listening to me. But God says do not be afraid. Stand firm and see God step in. The Lord then told Moses to tell the people of Israel to “go forward.” Moses lifted up his staff and stretched out his hand over the sea and divided it. God intervened, for sometimes He prefers to work in situations that some deem impossible. He dramatically caused a strong wind to blow. The waters parted. And the people walked on the sea floor, on dry ground, safely to the other side.

Just like the Israelites, at times you can be put into a temporary, yet difficult, place or a seemingly impossible circumstance. Yet, what looked like a mess for the Israelites, God turned into a miracle, and today He can do the same for you.

No matter what challenge you’re encountering perhaps on your job, or the doctor’s report, or you cant see your way out of that situation, do not give on God because God wont give up on you. Stand still and look up. God is going to show up for He is standing by. Trust God, the omnipotent One. There that wait on the Lord shall mount on wings of eagles for they shall run and not faint, they shall walk and ne’er grow frail. “God will guide you continually,” (Isaiah 58:11). So, “Don’t be anxious about anything” (Philippians 4:6), “God is your strength and power,” (2 Samuel 22:33). For God promises to double blessings for your troubles.” (Zechariah 9:12)

PRAYERLord God, I humbly come before you and offer my sacrifice of thanksgiving. I thank you because you are God and beside you there is no other. I thank you because I have come to know, no matter how discouraging my circumstances may be, you can turn it all around and make a way when there is no way. Help me by your grace Lord to do my part of trusting you, while waiting for your deliverance. Amen.

BENEDICTION: May the Lord bless you and keep you;
May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you;
May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.”’ Amen.

They call me a loser, but you call me a winner
They call me shame, but you call me fame
They call me failure, but you call me success
They call me disgrace, but you call me grace
They call me nobody, but you call me my child
They call me sinner, but you call me forgiven
My Lord has been good to me, so good to me.

Our scripture can be found in Philippians 3: 14; I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Paul’s absolute focus gave him willingness to let go of nice things that didn’t matter. You will be faced with things that do not really matter, things that you could have done without. Paul’s ability to press on, and sustain the rhythm led him to his goal. What prize are you working for? What is the object of your focus.

Unless you are focused, you may not press on.

Unless you are determined to achieve you might loss concentration.

Unless you dedicated to the dream, it might just not come to pass. And if you don’t press on you may never arrive at your destination.

Many marriages, endeavors, academic pursuit and business fail for one reason. Broken focus. To gain the focus and the ability to press your way so you are truly effective and efficient, one must consider prayers, priorities and concentration. Do you pray about it? Do you make it your priority? Do you concentrate on it?

One who knows his/ her priorities, but lack concentration, knows what to do, but never gets it done.

One with concentration, but has no priorities has excellence without progress.

One who harnesses all three, gains potential to get great things done and in life you need to have all three to get certain things done.

If the enemy can’t defeat you, he gets you distracted with side issues, just to make you loose focus and no longer PRESS ON on your dreams and

aspirations. Everyone at some point, has to make up his or her mind to give in to the distractions or to stayed focused on the prize and trophy.

You see, everyone at some point or another would have to go through the same kind of experience the woman with an issue of blood had to go through. She was afflicted, and had a massive crowd to press her way through. She would have ordinarily been discouraged by the crowd and the laws concerning the unclean and interactions with people in public place, thereby making her loose focus and forcing her to accepting her situation to be true.

But she didn’t allow that to happen. She refused to let anyone or anything to intimidate her. All she had on her mind was I will get there. I will get there somehow. I will cross the river; I will make it through the fire. I will make it through this and with her eyes fixed on the prize; she made it one step at a time. Her eyes never let the prize. Her focus never left the goal.

She pressed on and on till she got there.

You too, will have to learn from this woman. You have to learn not to give up or to give in.

By now, you should have realized you are a man/ woman on a mission and to arrive at your destination you have to PRESS ON.

Just like the prodigal son, the word of God said when he came to his senses, he PRESSED ON. He had a conversation with himself and he said self, I refused discouragement even from you. He heard himself telling him don’t go back. Don’t go back. Don’t you see what you have done? Don’t you realize what a mess you are? You will not be accepted; and he said if I am not accepted no problem but at least I didn’t stay back. The self said if you go back you will be treated as a slave and he said to himself, I have decided to go back as a slave and with that made his journey back to home one step at a time with his eyes on the prize.

You too can have your eyes fixed on the prize. You too can press on. It doesn’t matter the number of times you tried and failed. The number of times things didn’t work out for you. What matters is you not allowing the setback to get you discouraged. And while you are trying or going through a hard time, it is easy to think God has abandoned you. But even at that point, don’t think He has. He doesn’t abandon his own and you are His.

FINAL WORDS: You may be going through some discouraging situation, perhaps a dream that never saw the light of day, or an investment that yielded no fruits, or have been through a constant search and it is now beginning to seem like your search is in vain. You have to tell yourself; How can I expect to win if I do not try. I will press on and keep pressing until I get there. I refuse to give up now. I refuse to turn around now. Yes it is not easy, but God wont bring me this far to let me off. I will get there if I press on.

You have to realize no matter how bad it is or how discouraging it gets; the sickness, poverty, disappointments and whole lot of disillusion, with God on your side, you can press in and through any and every situation. God can take you through the red sea and wilderness of your life and can feed you with water from the rock in the desert and send quails your way in the wasteland.

Get back up again superman. Get back up again superwoman for that is just who you are.

Closer than you think

A lot of times, God may seem like a million miles away, and you hear voices in your head telling you He doesn’t care because the pain and trouble persist. Don’t let the devil have his way with you. God is as close as you call him. He is with you. He hears when you cry and sees the tears. His grace is more than sufficient. Don’t just give up yet. Ps 145: 18

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2). The word “transform” in the original Bible language is metamorpho. It is where we get the word “metamorphosis.” When a caterpillar changes from a lowly worm into a beautiful butterfly, it is called a metamorphosis.

The caterpillar starts out as possibly one of the most unattractive insects. It is very plain, nothing special about it. But God destined the caterpillar to go through a transformation. It goes from being one of the most ordinary creatures to one of the most beautiful. It no longer has to crawl on the ground — it is transformed into a beautiful butterfly.

Know today that as you meditate on the Word, as you pray and worship and surrender every area of your life to God, He is doing a work in you. He is transforming you from the inside out. Trust Him and stay in the process knowing that He has great things in store for your future.

Has it ever occurred to you that if you’re not careful and thankful with the blessing, it can become a problem, and can stop you from actualising your purpose and having access to the kingdom? The wealth, the talent, the gift, is given for the purposes of God. You are blessed to be a blessing. Luke 16: 19 – 31

Who He is

You are my father and healer, the cure for the broken, hope of the hopeless, light in darkness, strength for weakness. You are the meaning and purpose of my existence. Only you can satisfy us and fill the void. We hunger and thirst for you and our hearts are restless until they rest in you. With you we need search no more. Ps 63:1-4
