No matter what is going on in life, we can find a reason to thank God. We choose what we focus on. We can either focus on our problems, or we can focus on our blessings. The question is: do you want more problems, or do you want more blessings? When you thank God, you are focusing on the blessing!
One thing I’ve noticed is that when you live with an attitude of constant gratitude, not only do you thank God for what He’s done in your life, you start thanking Him for what He will do in your life. You thank Him for opening doors for you. You thank Him for increasing you. You thank Him for bringing the right people into your life. When you say “Thank You” to God for the things that are coming, it’s really a declaration of your faith in Him. You are saying in essence, “God, I’m so sure of Your goodness, I’m so sure that You’re working in my life that I’m going to thank You right now for what You are going to do tomorrow!”
Today, have an attitude of gratitude. Let your faith say, “Thank You.” Praise Him throughout the day with a humble heart and watch what He will do on your behalf.
In this life, we will have troubles. Ups and downs. One day is filled with laughter, the next you’re struggling to hold back your tears. We can’t avoid it. We can’t run away from it. We only have to go through it. There is better on the other side. When we go through difficulty, we may be asking how can this be God?
One thing we have to realize is that God is not going to deliver us from every difficulty. He is not going to keep us from every challenge. He would not stop every battle. If He did, we would never grow. The Scripture says, in 1 Pet 1:7 “Our faith is tried in the fire of affliction.” God only allowed it because He knew we will survive it. The heartache, the sickness, the Doctors report. Every tough time you go through becomes an opportunity for your faith to shine.
Anybody can get bitter over something, blame God, or lose interest. That is very easy. But if you want to pass the test, if you want God to take you to a new level, you cannot give up now. You have to be a warrior. Say like Paul, “God wouldn’t give me more than I can bear. I am ready for it. I am equal to it. I know God is still on the throne and He is fighting beside me and good will come out of this.
It is God’s desire that we grow and progress, that we attain new heights and reach new levels. Oftentimes, as soon as we make a decision, the enemy brings in fear to try to stop us. He will bring thoughts like, “What if you fail? What are other people going to think? You don’t have what it takes.” The enemy will do his best to use fear to try to convince us to shrink back and stay where we are.
Scripture describes fear as a spirit (2 Tim1:7). It plays on our emotions and holds us back. But the good news is that we have power over fear! The Word of God says that perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). When we receive God’s perfect love, we will have confidence about the future because we know His plans are for our good. I have heard it said that fear is an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real. Understand that fear is a lie. Today, choose to believe God’s Word and receive His love so that you can overcome fear and move forward into the good life He has prepared for you.
God will not ask us to do anything His grace cannot strengthen us to do. The grace of God is strength for weakness, light for dark places, ability for inability, and hope for hopelessness. “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinth 12:19. We shouldn’t be passive or complacent and think, “Yes, I know I need to do that. Maybe next week,” well, next week turns into next month. Next month turns into next year. We should seize the moment and act knowing there is grace for the race.
Today, is there something you have been putting off? Something you know in your heart that you are supposed to do? Don’t let complacency destroy you. There is grace waiting for you. There is grace for the race. Remember if you run with men, its called RACE, but when you run with God, it is called GRACE. Grace keeps Us from Disgrace. May God’s GRACE be sufficient for you as you see the amazing future He has for you. Be bold; be strong. Step out in faith, be obedient and walk in the abundant rain of His Grace.
Hope you are ready because the grace to race is upon you.
If man runs with men, its called RACE, but when he runs with God, it is called GRACE. Grace keeps Us from Disgrace. May God’s GRACE be sufficient for you and your household today and beyond through Christ our Lord. Amen
Scripture tells us that faith without works is dead. In other words, if the faith inside of us doesn’t get expression through our actions and words, it will no longer be alive. If we don’t use it, we will lose it, so to speak. We have to step out in faith in order to keep faith alive.
Every person has been given a measure of faith by God. When we hear the truth of God’s Word, we receive more faith. That’s why it is so important to put the Word of God inside of you because when you do, you are building your faith. To keep that faith alive and thriving, we have to put it to use. One way to put your faith into action is through praise and worship (Rom 4:20). Praise is a supernatural force that causes you to stand strong in faith even when your thoughts or circumstances are coming against the truth. Praise keeps your thoughts going in the right direction. It is hard to be negative when you are declaring the goodness of God.
Today, let praise make you strong and stable. Put your faith into action. Look for reasons to thankful to God. As you do, you will feel that inner strength to overcome any weakness stopping your forward movement in to victory.
When Sarah first heard the news that she was going to have a baby, she began to laugh. Her laughter was not because she was excited, but because it sounded to stupid. After all she was in her 90’s, so it seemed impossible from every angle. I can hear her saying, “Abraham, a baby? Are you kidding? I’ve gone through the change of life. That defies the laws of nature.” She was saying, “I am disadvantaged. The odds are against me. I don’t have what it takes,” belittling herself, discounting herself. She was burying the promise deep within her.
When you think about it, it’s just as easy to talk yourself into something as it is to talk yourself out of it. Instead of thinking of all the reasons why you can’t get well, why you can’t accomplish a dream, why your marriage is not going to last and talking yourself out of it, start talking yourself into it. “I can do all things through Christ. God is making a way even though I don’t see a way. I am anointed, equipped, talented, more than a conqueror.”
The more you speak God’s Word, the more you believe it. When you believe God’s Word, it comes to pass in your life. Rem Job 22:28, you shall declare a thing and it shall be established. Start today by declaring His promises. Feed your faith and move forward into the victory and blessing He has in store for you.
Life will hit you, knock you off your feet, push you around and throw you to the ground. You will be hurt, you will be wounded. You will be broken and torn. But don’t give up. Get back up again. Don’t let the bleeding stop you from getting there. Bandage your wounds and continue. Don’t stop until you get there. Don’t let the wounds stop you from moving. One step at a time you will make it. You will bleed but not to death.
Paul in 2 Corinth 4:16-18 writes ” we do not lose heart for our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen. Hear what Paul calls “light and momentary” – tho not the name I would have called them; imprisoned, beaten, stoned, shipwrecked three times, in constant danger, hunger and thirst. How could Paul describe endless trials with the phrase “light and momentary”. He could see “an eternal glory that far out-weighs them all.” Paul was wounded, but he still went ahead.
And you – Remember the crucifixion of Jesus. He was wounded, but he still kept walking. Keep walking. The Lord is with you. I know you want to go on, but some days the road seems so long, the pain so unbearable, the shame so much, the engine refusing to start, with people judging you by your past and singing your mistakes to your face. Let me encourage you with this. Just remember you could be wounded and still walking. God never said the journey would be easy, but He did say the arrival would be worth it.
In what ways do you honour God? A lot of times, people think, “I go to church to honor God. I read the Scriptures to honor God. I dance to honour God.” No doubt those are all ways to honour God, but did you know that you honor God just as much when you get to work on time? You honor God when you are productive each day and honor the people in authority over you. You honor God when you excel in your career.
Actions speak louder than words. When you put in your best your workplace, your whole life is giving praise to God — which is one of the best witnesses you could ever have. Just showing up with a good attitude, being kind and friendly, organized, being your best — people will notice something different about you and will want to be like you.
As Christians, we should set the standard in all areas of our life. People should see the depth of our character and the spirit of excellence in us and at once know not only are we God’s children, but we have a good relationship with Him.
As today unfolds, make the decision to honor Him in all that you do. Remember you are His representative in the world today.
